Volunteer Appreciation Week
During Volunteer Appreciation Week 2025, the Center was fortunate to partner with three organizations that provided materials to support programs and items to beautify the Blairstown Campus.
First, on Earth Day, Caring Capital lead a team from Genmab in building and decorating wooden benches and raised planters for use at Blairstown. Caring Capital custom-designs unique projects for employees to make through charitable team-building, and spearheaded the projects with Genmab, a leading international pharmaceutical company with US headquarters in Princeton. The Genmab team worked in small groups to build eight wooden benches to be placed around the Blairstown Campus. Other small groups built four cedar raised planters which will be used at the Center’s organic garden. Program Manager Isabelle Hanley, who oversees the garden, is particularly excited to have these new growing spaces. Kathleen Collins and Kristin Sullivan of Caring Capital coordinated with the Center’s Facilities team to transport all of the benches and boxes to the Campus, and took a tour while they were there.
Later in the week, new President & CEO Kerri Strauss and Vice President of External Affairs Meredith Murray attended a meeting of the Princeton Corridor Rotary Club where members assembled “fun bags” and rainy day kits. These bags and kits are filled with a variety of items used by facilitators when they are working with students in Blairstown. Prior to the assembly process, Meredith shared information with club members about the Center’s programs, history, and the students we serve so members understood how their service would benefit the Center.
These kinds of volunteer engagement projects benefit the Center and our students, and offer volunteers the opportunity to engage in meaningful work while building connections with their colleagues. Thank you, Caring Capital, Genmab, and Princeton Corridor Rotary Club!
